1. You’re Increasing Your Cancer Risk

The World Health Organization (WHO) classifies cell phone radiation as a “possible human carcinogen” due to an increased risk of brain cancer from long-term and heavy use of cell phones. Although short-term cell phone exposure has not been shown to cause brain tumors, research is showing that it can change your brain activity in ways we don’t fully understand yet.

The World Health Association was ruled last 2011, that cell phones could be carcinogenic to humans since they emit electromagnetic radiation that has been linked to certain types of cancer. While the cancer risk of cell phones is still being studied, prolonged exposure to blue light and its affect on the sleep cycle has been shown to increase the risk of breast and prostrate cancer.

3. You’re Disrupting Your Sleep

Using smartphones before bed delays your body’s internal clock (a.k.a., your circadian rhythm), suppresses the release of the sleep-inducing hormone melatonin, and makes it more difficult to fall asleep. This is largely due to the short-wavelength, artificial blue light that’s emitted by these devices.

The more electronic devices that a person uses in the evening, the harder it is to fall asleep or stay asleep. Besides increasing your alertness at a time when you should be getting sleepy, which in turn delays your bedtime, using these devices before turning in delays the onset of REM sleep, reduces the total amount of REM sleep, and compromises alertness the next morning. Over time, these effects can add up to a significant, chronic deficiency in sleep.

So it is advisable that to keep away your mobile when you’re sleeping.

3. It may be the cause of Fire

Admit it or not, most the time you are using mobile while it is plugged in or charging them by the bed or lying right on the bed. Because when you sleep while charging your cellphone, the battery heats up and explodes. This bad habit is one reason for the cause of a fire.

4. You’re Destroying Your Memory

The mere fact that mobile can easily give us information in form of searching makes us smarter at same time destroying our memory. Experts warn that their unrelenting pings and blitzkrieg of updates can throw the brain into overdrive, affecting its cells and blunting the mind over time.

Placing mobile nearby to you can be a distraction to your resting time. As mentioned above it will disrupt your sleep and it will deteriorate your memory or brain function. This means it can lead to slowly killing your memory.

5. You’re Putting Yourself at Risk of Depression

According to a small new study published in the Journal of Medical Internet Research that your phone may be able to tell if you’re depressed even better than a self-assessment of your own depression can.

David Mohr, one of the authors of the study and director of the Center for Behavioral Intervention Technologies at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine said “We found that the more time people spend on their phones, the more likely they are to be more depressed”. The researchers also found that spending lots of time at home was linked to depression—and that phone data like this could predict with 87% accuracy whether someone had symptoms of depression.

Once again, placing mobile nearby to you can trigger depression because the habit that you always wants to check out your social media or games update.

So, it will be better if you can avoid the usage of mobile especially before sleeping time and keep it away from you. Also it will help you in coming out of the social media world to real world.
